In this section we will present you table for the required levels to evolve each Temtem: If you delay the evolution this way the Temtem will also gain an experience bonus of 10%! The bonus is lost after you evolved the Temtem. (The exact button might be different depending on your platform.) This way you can also evolve your Temtem later. In the Temtem overview there will be a shortcut at the bottom beneath the information window which will say “evolve”. No worries though, you can simply evolve it from the menu. The evolution will not get triggered again by reaching a new level if you missed it for the first time. If you ever wonder why your Temtem has not evolved yet and you are sure it already should have done so there might the possiblity that you missed the evolution. However, if you catch a Skail at level 14 in Windward Fort it will evolve at level 31! It can be worth to catch lower level Temtem and train them instead of catching the highest ones available. If you catch a Skail in Thalassian Cliffs at level 4 it will already evolve at level 21. For example a Skail will require to level up 17 times before it evolves. 
They will evolve based on the number of levels gained since they were caught/hatched. (even during a battle) However, Temtem do not evolve by reaching a certain level. The evolution will trigger as soon as the level is achieved. The vast majority of Temtem will evolve by gaining a level up.
